NORTH SHORE CHARTERS
Sol Mates, a 54’ Bluewater Cruiser with a beam of 15’ features: 2 sleeping cabins, 2 heads with showers (and a bathtub), a large air conditioned/heated salon area, full galley (stove, microwave, refrigerator, table with seating), covered dive deck, and a large sundeck and foredeck area.
Sol Mates is the largest dive boat on the North Shore. This provides plenty of space and comfort on the way to the dive sites. The 2 gas engines and diesel generator are exceptionally quiet and allow for relaxation and conversation.
A spacious salon and outdoor areas allow everyone plenty of room to spread out and relax, watch videos on our HD TV, teach classes, and discuss the previous or upcoming dive with fellow divers. We also have 2 kayaks on board for your enjoyment.
Sol Mates’ 2 cabins are separate from the salon area. One has 2 full beds and the other has 4 single births in bunk beds. This not only makes Sol Mates comfortable and desirable for the male and female diver, but also for couples. One head is between the cabins providing easy access to toilet, sink, shower, and bathtub.
DIVING OFF SOL MATES
Sol Mates’ 120 sq ft covered dive deck allows divers to get in and out of the water while staying out of the rain or hot sun. An onboard compressor provides air fills. A warm water rinse hose helps mitigate the chilly water, and a dryer is available for wet clothing and towels.
Gear storage space is available, as are standard 120v outlets for charging dive lights or cameras between dives. We also provide steel tanks for you to use at no charge. Meals are included in the price.
Our crews are experienced, helpful, friendly SCUBA professionals experienced in cold water diving and Great Lakes charter operations. We have a USCG certified captain and all our crew are agency certified. Dive Guides are available depending on the needs of your group. Briefings are provided so you will be confident in getting the most out of your dive.
Apostle Islands, WI -
Friday Night - Sunday Afternoon
The Apostle Islands are located on the north side of WI about 2 hrs from the marina. This trip is a sightseeing trip as well as a diving trip. Most of the dives will be 50' or less. We will dive the Hesper Friday night, have dinner at the marina, and leave Saturday morning for the islands. Our first stop will be Devil's island to see the amazing sea caves and possibly dive them. We will then head to Outer Island and dive the Pretoria. There is also a lighthouse and more sea caves. On our way south we will pass by the large sand spit as we go to Stockton Island. The island offers more sea caves, the Norque Bay, and a wall and ledge to dive. We will most likely spend the night out on Apostle Island. Sunday we head to Sand Island cutting through the islands. Sand Island offers the Mary Corgan, sea caves, the Sevona,the MR Warner and on shore. We will probably be back at the marina around 4 PM. Itinerary and dives are weather dependant but we should get 1 dive Friday and 5-7ish dives Saturday and Sunday.
Possible dive sites include sea caves, the Pretoria, a wall and ledge, the Noque Bay, docks, the Sevona, and the Mary Cargan. Sites to see include sea caves, lighthouses, cliff jumping, large sand spit, abandoned quarry, and tons of islands.
