While attending NDSU, Mick's Scuba was offering scuba classes, so I signed up. This was in 1993.
During the summer of 1994 I completed my open water certification at Long Lake. I have been hooked on SCUBA ever since.
Through the years, I took my advanced open water, rescue diver and then completed the Divemaster course. In 2015 I signed up for the IDC to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor and upon completion, I began teaching Scuba part time at Mick’s Scuba. When the owner Duane mentioned he was ready to make a change, I decided to take the next step and purchased Mick’s Scuba! This was the perfect fit for me to continue diving and teaching and to make sure the Fargo-Moorhead area would continue to have an active dive community and dive shop, especially since Mick’s Scuba had been a staple in this area for over 35 years. I always thought it would make a great retirement job someday.
I love teaching new students how to dive, diving the clear water lakes in the area, and traveling for tropical water diving. Some of my favorite diving destinations are the Bonne Terre Mines (Missouri), Lake Ore-Be-Gone (Minnesota) and Cozumel (Mexico).
I am also on the local Cass and Clay Counties water rescue team, Valley Water Rescue, as a diver and board member.
